MORE PROGRAMMING TO GET YOU THINKING!

Goliath is making changes to strengthen its standing as the most provocative source for talk in town and sharpening its focus on local issues with a couple of key program changes to get 2013 off to a running start.

First THE VIA REPORT adds an hour, and airs from 2 to 4:15 week days.  Dr. Joy Browne, whose program was forced to change its origination as a result of shifts in the New York radio market where she originates  is back with mostly live programs from 1-2.  The added hour will give Roland time to bring on more guests highlighting everything from politics to sports to entertainment in the area.  He will also continue with his Saturday morning show highlighting culture, good health and Florida gardening.

Goliath believes that local folks with strong opinions are more interesting the national pundits and potificators  (names that would never make it BIG TALK) and on Thursday nights from 7:30 to 8:30 with a repeat Saturday mornings from 10-11 will prove the point by presenting THE OPINIONATED GUYS.  Three outspoken fellow from deep within Flagler county who, as they put it, "speak out on the world around us without apology."  They have been honing their show on online radio for more than year and are looking forward to being able to get feed-back from callers during many of their shows on Goliath.

The Opinionated Guys, heard on the air as Woody McLovin, Shady J and Michael Ray King say they "look to entertain with humor" as they "take strong, opinionated stands on the everyday concerns of men everywhere."     Having heard some of their shows, Goliath suspects those concerns of men will get strong reaction from women -- often.              


                            UNFINISHED BUSINESS FROM 2012 --  CRAs

As you read this, five Volusia cities are making plans to put CRAs in place.  These Community Redevelopment Areas are supposed to upgrade blighted sections of communities and stimulate the economy.  But few are aware that more than half of the taxes to fund them are collected countywide.  Go up to the topic line just above this and click on the Community Tab, and then Surveys in the drop-down box.  Read what respected Property Appraiser Morgan Gilreath has written about CRA funding and how much blight we need to fight.  Decide if new CRAs are, as John E. said in a recent Evans Essay, "picking the pockets" of taxpayers countywide.  

Take our simple and unscientific survey and urge your friends to do so, too.  CRAs to many are money taps that drip for years, and if enough people decide they're getting soaked by the process, just maybe we can mop them up.
